Local Information & Tips
Parking Arrangements
Parking directly at the Stade de France is limited and should always be booked in advance to guarantee a space. Roads around Saint-Denis become congested on match days, and local restrictions make street parking almost impossible. Many fans prefer to leave their vehicles further out and travel in using Paris’s excellent public transport. The RER B and D lines serve the stadium directly and are generally the fastest option. After the final whistle, allow time for crowds to disperse, as departures can be slow due to the sheer number of supporters.
Weather and Climate
Paris in February and March usually offers cool, changeable conditions, with average daytime temperatures between 6°C and 12°C. Rain is common, often light but lingering, so a waterproof coat or umbrella is recommended. Sunny intervals brighten the city, particularly in the afternoons, and help lift the atmosphere around the ground. Evening temperatures tend to fall quickly, so additional layers are advised, especially for those sitting in the more exposed sections of the stadium. The crisp Parisian air adds an extra edge to this high-intensity fixture.
Things to Do When Not Watching the Matches
THE EIFFEL TOWER
Paris’s most iconic landmark remains a must-see for first-time visitors and seasoned travellers alike. Whether you ascend to the top for sweeping views or simply admire it from the Champ de Mars below, it is an essential part of the city’s charm. At night, its sparkling lights provide an unforgettable backdrop to any trip.
THE LOUVRE MUSEUM
The world’s largest art museum is home to masterpieces including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. With thousands of works on display, it is impossible to see everything in one visit, but highlights and guided tours ensure an enriching experience. It is a cultural treasure that rivals the spectacle of the stadium.
MONTMARTE & SACRE-COEUR
This historic hilltop district offers cobbled streets, artist studios, and some of the best views across Paris. The Basilica of Sacré-Cœur provides a striking focal point, while the cafés and squares around Place du Tertre capture the bohemian spirit of the city. It’s a perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon.
SEINE RIVER CRUISE
A cruise along the River Seine offers a unique perspective on the city’s landmarks, from Notre-Dame to the Musée d’Orsay. Daytime cruises provide excellent photo opportunities, while evening sailings showcase Paris illuminated in all its splendour. It’s a relaxing counterpoint to the energy of match day.

A Historic Rivalry
Few rivalries in rugby are as iconic as France v England. It is a fixture steeped in history, with every meeting between Les Bleus and the English carrying weight, pride, and often title implications. France bring flair, physicality, and attacking unpredictability, while England counter with structure, power, and tactical precision.
The Stade de France in Saint-Denis is the perfect backdrop for this confrontation, a vast arena that amplifies the tension and atmosphere. Fans from both sides travel in large numbers, and when tricolour blue mixes with the white of England, the stadium becomes a cauldron of sound, anticipation, and passion.
