Local Information & Tips
Four Things to Do When You're Not Watching F1
EXPLORE SOUQ WAQIF
This traditional market is a maze of narrow alleys filled with spices, textiles, and street food stalls. It’s the perfect place to pick up souvenirs and sample authentic Qatari flavours. Between the scent of incense and the vibrant atmosphere, it’s an experience as memorable as the racing itself.
VISIT THE MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC ART
Sitting proudly on Doha’s waterfront, this architectural masterpiece houses centuries of treasures from across the Islamic world. From ancient manuscripts to intricate ceramics, the collection is both vast and fascinating. The building itself, designed by I.M. Pei, is a work of art worth the visit alone.
RELAX ON THE PEARL-QATAR
An artificial island filled with marinas, shops, and upscale restaurants, The Pearl is Doha’s glamorous playground. Stroll along the waterfront, grab a coffee, and admire the yachts that look as sleek as any F1 car. It’s a slice of luxury living in the heart of the city.
TAKE A DESERT SAFARI
Leave the city behind and head into the dunes for an adventure on four wheels of a very different kind. Whether it’s dune bashing in a 4x4, camel rides, or watching the sunset over endless sand, it’s a thrilling contrast to the high-tech world of the circuit. Just be ready for as much adrenaline as you’ll find on track.
Weather and Climate
November in Qatar offers warm but bearable racing conditions, with daytime highs around 29°C and evenings cooling to 21°C under the lights. The desert climate means little chance of rain, but the dry air can be surprisingly draining, so hydration is essential. Light clothing is perfect for the day, though a light layer may be welcome at night with the desert breeze.
Parking Arrangements
Parking at Losail is available but fills up fast, and getting back into Doha after the race can take longer than the cooldown lap. Shuttle services from the city are reliable and efficient, though queues build quickly after the chequered flag. Many visitors prefer taxis or ride-hailing apps, which are plentiful and affordable by local standards.

A New Era of Speed
The Qatar Grand Prix is one of the newer additions to the Formula One calendar, but it’s already carved out a reputation as a spectacular night race. Hosted at the Losail International Circuit just outside Doha, the event combines ultra-modern facilities with the drama of wheel-to-wheel battles under floodlit skies. With long straights and fast corners, it’s a track built for overtakes – and a showcase of just how dazzling night racing can be.
But Qatar is not just about the tarmac. Step outside the circuit and you’re in a country that blends futuristic skylines with centuries-old traditions. Doha’s gleaming towers rise above bustling souqs, while desert dunes roll endlessly just beyond the city limits. It’s a destination where you can watch cutting-edge motorsport one moment and sip tea in a centuries-old market the next.
