Kalimera!
Your Sun-Soaked Cyprus Adventure is Calling!

Welcome to Aphrodite's Island Playground!
Legend has it that Cyprus was the birthplace of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty, and when you see this island, you’ll understand why. It’s a place steeped in myth, with a unique and complex character born from a history that blends Greek, Turkish, Roman, and even British influences. I love how you can wander through ancient, sun-bleached ruins in the morning and be relaxing at a chic, modern beach bar by the afternoon.
The island is a stunning game of contrasts. You can drive from the golden, sun-baked coastline up into the cool, pine-scented Troodos Mountains in just over an hour. You can feast on food that is a delicious fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours – think fresh salads and grilled fish, but also fragrant kebabs and rich, syrupy desserts. It’s a place where hospitality is paramount and the sun seems to shine endlessly.
Spoken Languages
Greek and Turkish are the official languages. Thanks to historic ties, English is spoken fluently almost everywhere, making it incredibly easy and comfortable for British visitors.
Accepted Currencies
In the Republic of Cyprus (the south), the currency is the Euro (€). Cards are accepted in all resorts, but it's handy to have cash for village shops and markets
Weather and Climate
Prepare for sunshine! Cyprus has one of the warmest climates and longest summers in the Mediterranean, with over 300 days of sun a year and very mild winters.
Transport Options
To truly explore the island's nooks and crannies, hiring a car is your best bet. Local buses connect the main towns and are great for shorter journeys.
Our Top Four Cypriot Hotspots
Paphos
A designated UNESCO World Heritage site, Paphos is a history buff's dream. The archaeological park, with its stunningly preserved Roman mosaics, is a must-see, as are the mysterious Tombs of the Kings. This is all balanced with a charming harbour and plenty of lovely beaches for relaxing.
Ayia Napa & Protaras
Home to the best beaches on the island. Ayia Napa is world-famous for its vibrant nightlife and the breathtaking beauty of Nissi Beach. For a slightly more relaxed but equally beautiful beach holiday, the neighbouring resort of Protaras is perfect for families and couples.
The Troodos Mountains
The cool, green heart of Cyprus. Escape the coastal heat and discover a different world of pine forests, hiking trails, and incredible Byzantine monasteries clinging to the mountainsides. A trip to a traditional village like Omodos for a long, lazy lunch is an essential Cypriot experience.
Limassol (Lemesos)
The island’s most cosmopolitan city. Limassol is buzzing with energy, boasting a swanky marina, a beautifully redeveloped old town packed with bars and restaurants, and a long, palm-lined promenade perfect for a stroll. It’s the dynamic, modern face of Cyprus.

Four Tips for a True Cypriot Experience

Halloumi isn't Just for Grilling!
You think you know halloumi? Think again! In its homeland, this glorious squeaky cheese is used in so many ways. Try it fresh and uncooked in a village salad, or look for pastries called flaounes, which are stuffed with halloumi and mint. It’s a taste sensation and a world away from the vacuum-packed stuff back home.
Drive on the Left!
Here’s a fantastic perk for us Brits: they drive on the left in Cyprus! Thanks to its history, the road rules are the same as in the UK, making hiring a car completely stress-free. All the road signs are in both Greek and English, so it couldn't be easier to get off the beaten track and find your own secluded cove.
Discover the 'Real' Cyprus in the Villages
The coastal resorts are fantastic, but to find the island's true soul, you need to head inland. Take a drive up to a wine-making village like Omodos or the craft village of Lefkara, famous for its lace. Here you'll find cobbled streets, friendly locals, and traditional family-run tavernas where you can enjoy an authentic meze that lasts all afternoon.
It's a Meze, Not a Marathon
When you order a meat or fish meze in a taverna, prepare for a feast! A seemingly endless procession of small dishes will cover your table, from dips and salads to grilled meats, vegetables, and local delicacies. The golden rule is to pace yourself. It’s a social meal designed to be enjoyed slowly over a few hours. Don't make the rookie mistake of filling up on the delicious bread and hummus in the first ten minutes!
So, Why is Cyprus Your Perfect Island Escape?
Because it effortlessly combines everything you could want from a Mediterranean holiday into one easy, welcoming, sun-drenched package. It's an island of ancient myths, beautiful beaches, and fantastic food. The unique blend of cultures gives it a fascinating personality, and the genuine warmth of the people makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
Cyprus offers that perfect mix of comfortable familiarity and exciting discovery. You can have a wild night out in Ayia Napa, a peaceful hike in the Troodos, or a fascinating day exploring Roman ruins, all on the same island. It’s the complete holiday destination, a place that gives you the glorious sunshine you crave with a rich culture that will keep you coming back for more.
